{"id":13925,"date":"2022-09-29T09:24:51","date_gmt":"2022-09-29T07:24:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.erosangelini.com\/?p=13925"},"modified":"2022-09-29T09:24:51","modified_gmt":"2022-09-29T07:24:51","slug":"the-advantage-of-3d-printing-technology-in-the-development-of-new-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.erosangelini.com\/en\/blog-en\/the-advantage-of-3d-printing-technology-in-the-development-of-new-products\/","title":{"rendered":"The advantage of 3D printing technology in the development of new products"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Developing a new product involves figures outside the company:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>In the critical transition between the design and industrialization phase, it\u2019s ought to consider the needs and features of the supply chain too.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The competitiveness the production process (sometimes even its feasibility!) also depends on the capability to make the supplier base to<strong> fulfil the orders properly<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe realization of some shapes, the execution of specific finishes and so on may require the use of dedicated equipment, which is not always easy to make, or whose construction is uneconomical as per the expected production volumes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is the case of CIME, a well-established Manufacturer of professional coffee machines: during the development of a new model commissioned to our Industrial Design Studio, they found an <strong>unexpected criticality<\/strong>: one of the components was featuring surfaces requiring a dedicated template.<br \/>\n<em>The involved part needed to be 90\u00b0 bended in two points, and featured an entirely bended side: this last issue was making hard the construction of the template and the production of the part.<\/em><br \/>\nThe supply chain prospecting reported a negative result: making the template would in fact have required an exceeding effort, such as to cancel the return on investment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The collaboration with our Industrial Design Studio allowed them to <strong>effectively fix the problem<\/strong>: we have in fact designed the template <strong>to be created by 3D printing<\/strong>, optimizing each part to guarantee 100% compliance with the technical and aesthetic requirement of the products to be launched, and <strong>we actually produced the template through the 3D printer of our Studio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 1300px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-13925-1\" width=\"1300\" height=\"451\" loop autoplay preload=\"auto\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.erosangelini.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/B_13_01-La-stampa-3D-al-servizio-dello-sviluppo-di-nuovi-prodotti.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.erosangelini.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/B_13_01-La-stampa-3D-al-servizio-dello-sviluppo-di-nuovi-prodotti.mp4\">https:\/\/www.erosangelini.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/B_13_01-La-stampa-3D-al-servizio-dello-sviluppo-di-nuovi-prodotti.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In this way, not only it was possible to <strong>unlock the project<\/strong>, but also brought further advantages: the totally customized realization of the template <strong>reduced costs<\/strong>, moreover allowing to realize the <strong>prototype<\/strong> with a technology very similar to the definitive one, thus maximizing the <strong>accuracy of forecasted costs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>True industrialization passes through the enhancement <\/strong><strong>of the work of the supply chain too.<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Our transversal skills, overall vision, and equipment<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>have allowed CIME to create with us another successful product!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Do you like to learn more, and get a personalized consultancy?<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The use of 3D printing allows to fix critical points during the industrialization phase of the product effectively<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":13915,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[133],"tags":[149],"class_list":["post-13925","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog-en","tag-design-en"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v21.0 -
